Since the early 1960s, I had been struggling to find any information about the Crawford side of my family history with little help. Not necessarily because there was no help available but because I was a novice at genealogy and family history. My mother didn’t offer any information about my father or his family because they were divorced. Only a few years ago, I went to a family history consultant in my church who thought he had helped me find my grand-mother only to discover she was not. Shortly thereafter, another consultant led me to think beyond genealogical documents and look at other possibilities. It was on this occasion that I realized there could have been another wife involved. Looking closer at the document revealed a name who I discovered was a distant cousin. She helped me break into my maternal family line. Neither of us knew the other existed! |

Suffering from MS and being confined to a wheel chair compounded the problem by making it impossible to do much “walking and talking.” Access to many areas was difficult at best. Between being immobile and uneducated in genealogy and family history research, I had to learn most of my skills through trial and error and inspiration. Because of what I had learned along the way, I had taught many classes on family history basics and helped others as best I could.
I came across a technology called ReGL™ which allows me to interact in real-time with anyone, anywhere using my computer, a headset and microphone. This opened up a whole new world of possibility. Not only could I talk to them but I could show them images, presentations and use a whiteboard as if I was sitting with them. Distance became a non-issue and the ability to touch people’s lives around the world has given rise to a new era in helping others. We created Family History Live Online™, LLC (FHLO™) to organize and personalize the support side of genealogy and family history that has been so woefully lacking in many areas. We also wanted to expand the knowledge base of both novice and professional alike. The more we show people our concept and ideas the more exciting it gets. We look forward to sharing our experiences with you. Please let us know of ways we can help. |
